A peak in the south Argentine Puna de Atacama. It is normally climbed form either Catamarca or La Union. We made the first British ascent of this, the 16th highest peak in the Andes, in 2000.
Veladero on the extreme left and Baboso on the right as seen from the Cordon de los Pioneros.
Veladero from the summit of the neighbouring peak of Baboso.
On the summit of Cerro Bonete 2013. In the background are Veladero and Baboso.
We can organise guided ascents of this peak. For details of how to climb Veladero, Baboso and the neighbouring peaks of the Puna, please see our guidebooks, which are available in English, Spanish, Polish and French editions, direct from us or from all good bookshops and mountaineering shops.
