Parinacota is a beautiful volcanic cone on the Chile-Bolivia border. As far as we know it is the worlds highest volcanic cone, although it is not the world's highest volcano. The name is Aymara for flamingo and these birds are a common site around the mountain.

We organise guided ascents of this peak most years. For details of how to climb it and the neighbouring peaks, please see our guidebooks, which are available in English, Spanish, Polish and French editions, direct from us or from all good bookshops and mountaineering shops.
