Rock Climbing in Chile

Maipo Valley - Chile

Just outside Santiago, the scenic Cajon del Maipo valley boasts several important and easily accessible sport climbing areas such as El Manzano. There are other accessible areas northwest of the capital city too, like  Las Chilcas and Las Palestras.

Cochamo Valley - Chile

A Yosemite style valley near Puerto Montt, some pretty major granite faces here

Patagonia

Big serious routes on hundreds of famous peaks, including the Torres del Paine, Cuernos del Paine, Fortaleza and Escudo. There are no shortage of things to go for, but bad weather and iced up routes make this a bit more serious than just a cragging destination.

Guidebooks

Guia de Escaladas en Roca - CHILE  by Gonzalo Riobo and Carlos Julio has details of routes at Las Chilcas, Las Palestras and Piedra Romel in the central valley.

The following guidebook is reasonably easy to find and useful for Chilean Patagonia. Patagonien (German, Spanish or Italian editions) by Gino Buscaini and Silvio Metzetlin
