Easy Mountaineering ascents in Ecuador

This trip is not currently scheduled, however we have run many trips to Ecuador in the past and can run private trips for small groups, following this itinerary or something similar.

This  short expedition is based in Quito the capital of Ecuador. From here we will make ascents of several acclimatisation peaks before going on to climb  two of the highest peaks in the country,  Cotopaxi 5897m and Cayambe 5790m. We are also offering an optional four day extension to climb Chimborazo 6310m, the highest peak in the country. These peaks in Ecuador were mostly first climbed by the famous alpinist Whymper at the end of the last century. All three peaks are normally straightforward climbs on heavily crevassed glaciers. An ice-axe and crampons and some skill in their use are needed

Quito is a fairly small and very interesting city located at an altitude of 2800m with views to Cayambe and Cotopaxi. From Quito we will make short excursions to the mountains to climb the various summits, staying overnight in mountain huts or camps high on the slopes of each peak.

Though all the ascents are relatively easy, expedition members should be experienced winter or alpine walkers or be prepared to gain some alpine or winter walking experience before the expedition.
