Technical mountaineering in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru
Artesonraju is a beautiful wedge shaped snow peak in the famous Cordillera Blanca of Peru, with the magical height of 5999m. It is a challenging climb for those with considerable previous experience of winter or Alpine climbing.
Our expeditions to the Cordillera Blanca are based in the town of Huaraz situated at a height of 3000m at the foot of the mountains. We would normally make a couple of short acclimatisation and training trips into the Cordillera Blanca before making a five or six night trip to Artesonraju itself. There would be opportunities to do some trekking and/or to climb one or two lower and less technical peaks during this first phase of the expedition.
